Personally, I prefer the vertical position as it simply looks more menacing but also serves the purpose of distributing airflow better.
When it comes to deciding whether you should place the console vertically or horizontally, you have to take into account your set-up and where the console will be sitting on your shelf or cabinet. the PS5's visual presentation is certainly the most outlandish that Sony has ever created - and to its benefit, it screams "next generation." This might require extra TLC on a daily basis if you want to keep that gloss finish looking brand new to that I can recommend a micro-fibre cloth as other materials might potentially damage the surface or inflict more tiny scratches. After an hour, I had already accumulated some dust and fingerprints on it, and that was being careful. However, the gloss spine which runs down the console's center is a fingerprint and scratch magnet. They're firmly bolted onto the console, and the process of removing the panels is surprisingly easy - opening the door for many custom panel designs to flourish, adding that little bit of extra personality to your console. My initial fear was that the panels seemed a bit flimsy in all the marketing, but I couldn't have been more wrong.
The sleek shape accentuates the V-shape of the console - a reference to the Roman numeral for five - bolstered by two firm white panels and an eye-catching central gloss spine where you'll find the USB ports, power and eject buttons. Standing at almost 40cm tall, the PS5 is the largest console Sony has ever built, and rests quite imposingly in its vertical position. This is further emphasized by its enormous size. Sporting a more futuristic (and depending on who you talk to, almost alien) design, the PS5 was created to proudly stand out in your living room. The most striking first impression about the PlayStation 5 right out the box is both its size and design.

Sony has ushered in the new generation of consoles with a bang, and the first impressions couldn't have been more positive. Thankfully, a few hours later I was able to dive headfirst into all that the PS5 offered - and in terms of next-gen consoles, there's a lot to unpack about just how phenomenal a machine it actually is. I foolishly connected the consoles via the same Wi-Fi network, resulting in a very long and arduous process. Booting up the PlayStation 5 for the first time, I was greeted with the mandatory set-up: enter your region and profile, and migrate all your PS4 data over to the new console.
